Is the modem plugged into the phone line?

Still not working?
Check the line the modem is using for a dial tone with a handset (if the line does not have a dial refer to telephone provider).

Is the modem plugged directly into the telephone line (If not plug it in).

Double check all physical connections, unplug modem lead from both computer and modem and plug it back in checking the ports.

Add AT&FX3 to the modem extra strings.

If this should merely change the error message from no dial tone to no answer remove AT&FX3 and replace it with AT&F1.

Do you have the modem driver disk? (YES - Reinstall modem) N O - If the driver is on the machine we can try to re-install them without the disk but if the computer does ask for the disk at any time during this process we are not able to re-install the modem driver until you have the disk.

Try hyperterminal.

If connects via hyperterminal (If it fails RTV).
Re-install DUN
